P0740 BMW Code
This code is a common one that we often see in BMW vehicles experiencing transmission problems. The P0740 diagnostic trouble code references a torque converter clutch circuit open condition. When a solenoid valve tries to operate and the TCM senses a voltage drop, this code is recorded.
What causes this problem?
This code can be caused by a number of things, including:
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
